A lesson from the Peace Corps- High Expectations, Hope and A Vehicle to Impact

logo

The high expectations conversation is still alive and kicking with such proponents as the KIPP model and the Harlem Children’s Zone project. The Peace Corps and it’s inception have something to offer to this dialogue, one might say it takes the conversation to the next level in offering a model for turning high expectations into a catalyst for greater success.  What’s so powerful about the founding principles of the Peace Corps, outlined by Edutopia, is the tangible global impact of setting the bar high, inspiring young minds and then providing the vehicle for their success.   What would it look like to truly embrace this philosophy for all of our systems of education?
